Where are we?

Horfield Lodge is located in a beautiful, quiet area of Bristol surrounded by green open spaces. It is well served by public transport and is in close proximity to a wide range of amenities. Bristol city centre is just 3 miles away where you can find a wide array of restaurants and shops.

Exciting activities

Our secure gardens, patios and summer house are lovely areas to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Our sensory room is great for some quiet time and the hair salon is perfect for a spot of pampering. There’s also a coffee shop for getting together with friends.

We’ve a schedule of optional events and activities, helping residents to explore their interests and discover new ones. There’s animal visits, armchair exercises, gardening, baking, flower arranging, arts and crafts, bingo, quizzes and church services.

We also have a dedicated chaplain and offer music therapy for our residents living with dementia. We have great links with local schools and toddlers from a playgroup join us every week.

Award winning music therapy

We are committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to help alleviate isolation and the symptoms for those living with dementia. Our therapist is funded by charitable donations. She interacts directly with residents through live music therapy sessions. This includes singing, playing simple percussion instruments or responding to musical cues in a one-to-one or group setting. Take a look at our video to find out more about this life changing therapy.

Chaplaincy and pastoral support

We are proud to be supported by a dedicated Chaplain, who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. Our chaplain provides a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends and relatives, and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs - and organise worship for those who wish to participate. Where appropriate, residents are encouraged to maintain links with local faith communities.

Seize the day

Funded through charitable support, every MHA care home also prides itself in being able to offer unique and memorable opportunities and activities for residents to quite literally help them 'seize the day'.

We have the latest safety and security design features so you can live life to the full with peace of mind.

Your room

All rooms have an en suite wet room with toilet and sink and some enjoy lovely garden views. We also offer care suites, these are one and two bedroom apartments available for individuals or couples. This enables couples with differing individual care needs to remain living together.

If your loved one enjoys catching up with the latest news, sport, chat shows or soaps, we can provide a TV in their room on request, and there’s WiFi throughout the home.

Residential care

Our residential care is all about providing a special kind of home from home. It’s our way of making sure your loved one continues to live life to its fullest and remains as independent as possible.

It means they can get out and about when they want to, catch up with friends or pop to the shops, but with the added security and peace of mind that comes from knowing 24-hour support is available if they need it.

Our team are on hand to offer just the right amount of care, giving those who need it support with activities such as bathing, dressing and mealtimes.

Without having to worry about cooking meals, washing clothes or getting the hoover out, you’ll see your loved one truly enjoying life and exploring their full potential.

Nursing care

24-hour nursing care, tailored for individual needs. We provide round the clock specialist nursing care for those with medical needs, whether that’s a long-term illness or disability. Medical and other forms of specialist support are delivered with friendly expertise by our highly skilled team of nursing professionals.

As you’d expect from our wonderfully compassionate team, nursing care is wholly person-centred to meet the requirements of each individual with respect and dignity at all times.

Residential dementia care

We’re proud to be recognised for our pioneering approach to dementia care, which is carefully built around each individual.

Our dementia facilities here are second to none, and specially designed to provide a reassuringly familiar, engaging and warm environment for those living with us. We have dementia friendly decor and bedroom doors have memory boxes to assist your loved one to find their room. And our dementia areas open into a secure and peaceful garden.

Residents enjoy music therapy and reminiscence activities, including doll therapy, designed to stimulate social interaction and alleviate the feeling of isolation associated with dementia.

Food and drink

Mealtimes are an important part of the day here, giving our residents the opportunity to get together and enjoy freshly prepared food in a relaxed restaurant-style environment. We always offer two meal options and our chefs will happily prepare something special if nothing on the menu appeals.

  • Freshly prepared meals, cooked by our in-house chef
  • All dietary and religious needs catered for
  • Locally sourced meats, fruit and vegetables where possible
  • Seasonal ingredients – menus change three times a year with input from residents
  • Specialist equipment and assistance as needed
